Steps To Website Development

A website is not merely a product, but a development process. Web Development is the process of coding or programming a website so it properly performs what the website owner would like to accomplish.

Once your website is built and you begin to experience growing pains the time has come for a plan to move forward with the development process. I strongly advise any new development of a website have an experienced SEO be part of the decision making process. No website owner ever wants to update their site at the cost of their organic traffic.

1- Analysis your requirements on what is needed to fulfill the necessary functions to enhance the growth of the website. The analysis should cover all the aspects especially on how the new coding or expansion is going to join the existing system. All the present hardware, software, people involved, and data should be considered during this time of analysis.

2- Specifications or what do you want to do or achieve. There needs to be considerable thought when making changes to your website. Questions like, are the URL's going to change, will the new hardware or CMS (Content Management System) be compatible with the present system, cost of the coding, timeline, and many more questions need to be asked before moving forward.

3- Design and development can now begin. This is a slow process as with adding new code or features to a site testing should be conducted on a controlled scale. This is to ensure the new coding does not cause website errors or interfere with the SE's crawling/indexing. Some new coding can not be tested until the final push, and will need to be uploaded at a time the site traffic is minimal. Test all parts of the website, run a scanner for possible errors, and test again.
